Michael the Mercenary Angel

Michael was once an archangel, but because of a forbidden romantic relationship with a mortal woman over one thousand years ago, he was demoted back down to “Messenger,” or angel status.

But Michael was also human once, not in spirit but in body. Like the rest of his celestial counterparts, he took a mortal man’s dying body as a host for his residency here on earth.

Only fleeting traces remain of his former life as a mortal two millenniums back. Like puzzle pieces, fragments of distant memories of a past life haunt him in nightmares. Mixed into these tormenting dreams, Michael also receives messages from the celestial world as cryptic, flashing images he must interpret, in order to find his way to his next mission..his next kill.

Michael toils his guitar case around on his journeys. He sings and plays his guitar as a spiritual vehicle to connect with both God and man, but also to hide the large sword he lugs around. The demons or “Slayers” of men he targets, must be executed with the sword all archangels and angels carry.

Michael saves the life of a dog, a German Sheppard named “Purity,” who accompanies Michael on most of his travels, disappearing and reappearing in the most opportune times. Purity serves as a form of guarding angel for Michael, and as his only real friend.

Spiritual Warfare

Prior to the great Purgatory Wars, where Lucifer and his dark armies took hostage of all souls in limbo, heaven and hell reigned in relative balance over the world. Today, armies and agencies from both sides battle over the souls of men here on earth. Unlike most of the other angels, Cherubim, Seraphim, Thrones and other superiors who are simply forced to fight for mortals, but look down at and see mankind as a lost cause, Michael genuinely admires humans. Michael has taken the words: “God created man in his image and likeness” as a sacred oath to honor his maker by trying to understand and help humans.

Celestial Conspiracy

Though Michael still bares the divine brand, the Archangel scar and mark of his former rank, he is now just an angel. And like other angels, he now almost completely must rely on superior agents for details of his targets’ whereabouts, the demonically possessed mortals he terminates.

Among these agents, or “Passengers” assigned to him is a prank-playing, shape shifting Cherub named “Zoon,” who loves to taunt and mess with a short-fused Michael. Although Michael can sometimes sense these entities, these more powerful beings can disguise themselves easily from him, not only spiritually but physically. This leaves Michael somewhat in the dark and always looking over his shoulder at what’s to come, giving “Zoon” and others like him the advantage to do with Michael as they wish. Since Zoon can see into Michael, he takes the shape of Michael’s long lost, true love of his former life as a human, as a way to toy and confuse him.

Having to depend and trust on others as his liaisons to God’s true will, leaves Michael susceptible to be used as a an effective tool for conflicting agendas, conspired by possible double agents who have switched to the other side.

Divine Culture

Because Michael is not the only angel or holy entity roaming among men, he runs across and sometimes must work along with others like him on some of his missions. And although they are immortal to man, they can die by the hands of other divine beings, by the removal of their human hearts.

On the show, we will see the relationships and dynamics between Michael and all of these other celestial characters, and travel back in time to share their experiences in a multitude of settings and important moments in history.

After a series of conflicting encounters with his superiors and botched missions, Michael comes to realize it’s no longer simply about good versus evil but the gray space in between. Michael must return to the truth, to do that he must challenge everything he’s been made to believe, perhaps even his own faith. Risking in becoming a fallen angel, Michael is torn by straddling the line between cold duty and empathy from a growing almost-human conscience.

A Seraph named “Enoch,” the highest rank of the celestial class, safe guards Michael from complete perdition, showing up only when all else seems lost to help guide him back on the right path. Enoch warns Michael of an unholy crusade against God and his

armies, a mutiny of legions from a great number of Heaven’s armies, and gives strength

to Michaels’s suspicions of Zoon’s true nature.

As a former soldier in the Roman Empire, Michael battled alongside his best friend, a human named “Eno.” When Eno found out that “Lorena,” the woman he loved, was madly in love with Michael, his envy and anger unearthed and exposed the truth about

Michael’s divine nature, tearing the unholy union between Michael and “Lorena.” Michael and Eno now became sworn enemies, and Eno vacated his body to a powerful demonic entity named “Nam,” and vowed to hunt Michael down till the end of time.

Half human, half heavenly, and not fully understood by either side, Michael is the embodiment of the strength needed to find, fight for, and fulfill one’s destiny.
